Located
in Northwest Indiana The Good Rabbitry
is owned and operated by the husband & wife team of Leeann
& Darrel Good.
Home
is in a little town a few miles southeast of Valparaiso, Indiana. (home of
Valparaiso University, Homer & Bryce Drew, and world famous Orville Redenbacher
popcorn!). For many years the
Good family contained Checkered Giants - a sincerely challenging giant (and
sometimes unruly) marked breed, but when the kids left home the Checkers followed.
As we all know some things are just destined to be and the Goods were far
from done with rabbits. In 2006 Leeann discovered Lionheads and knew she
just had to have some! Their
years of raising Checkered Giants had taught them much about showing and breeding
top quality rabbits. They had already spent years of blood, sweat and tears
producing top Checkered Giants, including a beautiful Black doe who came home
with a Best In Show. Having learned that you seldom get outstanding
animals from less then outstanding parents Darrel and Leeann started the search
for the "best Lionheads they could find".
So
the trek to visit the Gibbons of Cimmaron Lionheads for some "seed stock"
was made. It seemed to make sense that while they were in Minnesota to add some
of Arden Wetzel's bloodlines since he held the original COD for he breed. At that
point Leeann's obsession to create the best Lionheads they could had began.
Leeann finds grooming
to be extremely relaxing, and has wholeheartedly embraced every aspect of
the Lionhead breed. Darrel would rather spend time in the backyard on a nice
day just watching the buns kicking around in their cages while he is kicking
back on a lawn chair. Both can be found a shows enjoying the competition and
showing off their latest winners. |
